INTRODUCTION:

REMOTE TERMINAL EMULATOR is a communications program
that will allow any PC (IBM PC OR COMPATIBLE) to communicate with a remote computer over a phone line and will  emulate an ANSI terminal.

OPERATION:

The following files must exist in the same directory:

	RTERME.COM
     MESSAGE.DAT
     ANSI.DAT

The program uses COM1.

NOTE! IF THE PROGRAM LOCKS UP YOU MAY NEED TO DO A RE-BOOT YOUR COMPUTER.
 
To execute the program enter:

 	RTERME.COM ANSI.DAT

     press enter

     and follow will be displayed:

     
     DIAL STRING: ________________________
     BPS........: _
     PARITY.....: _
     DATA LENGTH: _
     STOP BITS  : _

Use the TAB key to move from between fields.
After all information is entered press the ENTER key. At this point you should see the DIAL STRING displayed and modem should be dialing. If this not the case check all cables and re-boot your computer and trying running RTERME.COM again. 

In the DIAL STRING field enter atdt5551212, to request that the modem dial the phone 5551212. Check your modem manual for a list of valid AT formats.

The other fields should be self explanatory. Check the values displayed within the "()'s" for the valid values for each field.  


To end to program press Alt-F4.
